The process of the Iwalewahaus rebranding had already begun but the move into the new building hadn't yet been finalized. At this stage we created a catalogue for the exhibition »Iwalewa: Four Views into Contemporary Africa« which took place as part of a project together with French partners in four locations in Bordeaux. It served as a snapshot of what was happening at the Iwalewahaus in 2013.
In designing the catalog we tackled questions of the future orientation and developed a visual language. It subsequently became the basis for the development of a new corporate design. The layout of the publication plays with blank spaces and gaps, takes a sometimes radical approach towards images and text and is characterized by a strict, minimalist look in stark contrast to the lively contents of the exhibition itself.
